There are no brakes on life. It’s hard and fast and furious if we fight it and try to slow it down. Since that doesn’t work, what if we embrace it – no matter what the old devil has thrown at us? He will make sure to distract us with things that keep us down rather than build us up. He makes evil things look like something we want or something we should want in order to be happy. But we never are.
I painted this painting called “Hello World” back in 2015:
It’s funny my very own work means something more to me now than it did back then. When I painted it, I was thinking of a world of possibilities and welcoming those possibilities. And, I still do think of this. Now, I also see him outstretched and looking to God for guidance and being open, welcoming His presence. Since there are large buildings, I imagine him to be in the city where there is lots of noise and distractions but he is focused, has direction and determination.
Because of all this, I love the painting even more. I’ve held on to him for a good deal of time but I do feel he’s ready. I have listed him in the shop .
I hope he brings someone joy, just as he has me.
So do bees have knees?
When I painted this painting, I questioned that over and over in my mind. If they do, they sure are cute ones! A little while back, I created this painting that I titled “The Buzz”:
Daisies have long been my favorite flower. They find their way in my paintings from time to time, but the inspiration behind this piece was another artist’s work I had found on eBay. Actually, I tried to purchase it for myself and was outbid at the last second. If it were to do over, I’d put a larger bid in there now! 🙂
A good deal of time passed and even though I could no longer see it or see even who created it, I longed to get it out of my soul and onto canvas in a style of my own. I so wish I could remember and if you happen to know, please leave a comment. I know the original one was in oil and was more of an impressionist style, if that helps. I could have had more or less bees and/or flowers, too.
When I painted my version, it turned out to be very popular on my Facebook page, so I thought I’d go ahead and offer some art print in a limited quantity in the shop here.
Okay, so I had a little fun with creating the listing for the shop, too. I played around with a virtual room to see what the print would look like framed in there. That was so much fun to do!
I’m planning to offer more digital downloads of some of my popular pieces as well. They are so affordable for any budget and it would let more people enjoy the piece. Sharing the joy so to speak.
Happy 2017! I hope your year is off to a WONDERFUL start and if not, I hope it turns that direction as soon as possible!
I have a great deal of success with my Christmas ornaments and have been working to find something to create the rest of the year. While the ornaments sell year round, there are times when it’s a full time job (more than a full time job if I’m being real about that) but there are many times where it’s just too too quiet.
This year, I plan on trying several things that interest me. For a long time (and you remember this if you’ve followed my blog a while), I have had interest in Shabby Chic decor as well as miniatures. This sort of inspired me to create a few new items:
And then, I wanted to do a little rustic one…you know for log cabin enthusiasts like myself 🙂
Click any of the photos to go directly to the listing on ebay if you’re interested in seeing more about them.
And, most of all, thanks for sticking with me through all my changes and through feeling my way around. Eventually, just maybe I’ll have it all together with a direction and a purpose. Somehow, it feels closer than it ever has 🙂
